OK,I spent a lot time on my uncles farm and live in a farming community. Dad own the store where all the farmers bought. A few years ago I heard you could make a living traveling around with a picker and pick crops. Is this still a good idea?

If i want the husks on my ears(my hammermill doesn't care and my steers could careless as well) can the husking rollers be disabled or adjusted? I've never run a corn picker before. Robie Robinson

I did notice that the picker had a hard time keeping up with the high population corn, but I feathered the hand clutch on my WD and it went great once I found a good speed. I have acquired a NI Uni with a 727 husking bed and it stands pretty tall with elevator attached. In order to truck this, I would like to take the elevator off or let it down considerably. What are some tricks in doing this successfully that others have used? Thanks
