I live in NW Missouri about 15 miles from the Iowa line. I have found a corn elevator not to far from home. The elevator has a drag on it. It is 50 ft long he says. It's in really good shap. The problem is I dont know what it's worth. Most of them in this area are used as feed bunks. He is asking $1200.

Here in SW Minnesota, decent flight elevators at an auction will bring $200-$400 (sometimes even less). Once in awhile someone has a really nice shed-kept one but even on those, I think $700-$1000 would stop them. Unless you need one really bad and/or this one is in pristine condition, I think the price is way too high. Just my 2 cents worth.
There was one in indiana advertised for $200.oo and Ive seen some for over a grand. Does anyone even make them anymore?I would imagine auction prices are closer to reality.
Here it's worth that. I just bought a shed-kept Little Giant 32 footer for $1300. Zimmerman Manufacturing in New Holland, PA is the only company still making an ear corn elevator that I know of. My-D-Handy apparently stopped a few years ago, and there was a company named Buffalo Valley that seems to have disappeared sometime in the recent past. Snowco just makes bale conveyors now.
I am just north of you, Matt, outside of Council Bluffs, Iowa. I bought a 50-some-odd foot Kewanee elevator from a neighbor for $100 last year in great condition. There are about 10 more within a 20 mile radius from me that are just as good. You are right, though, a lot of them are being converted to feed bunks.
