Bought this picker by accident - any interest?

Hey all,

Had my hand up at the wrong time at a sale this past weekend.  In order to sleep in my bed, I had to vow to my wife that it'll never touch ground on our farm.  That means it'll have to go to iron next time I need my trailer.  I HATE taking working stuff to the scrapyard, so was hoping someone could use it.  It's a 319 with a 322 12 roll bed.  It was last used on a John  Deere 3020 and was used this past harvest.  It was always shedded.  It does show signs of use - dings, dents, cracked sheet metal - but is definitely ready to work.  I have lots of pictures  I'm asking $450, and will deliver a short distance for that.  I'm in Lancaster, WI.  Failing selling it complete, I'm willing to sell parts off it, you pay postage.  My number is six oh eight seven three two five oh five three.

It looks way too nice to go for scrap even if it is not showroom perfect.  I wish it was closer to where I am in New York.  Run an ad on Craigslist and your area print farm magazine.

Everybody gets in too big a hurry to run to the scrap yard with equipment. I didnt see about a ni mtd picker with a trailing husking bed till too late/ Tried tpo find the ad and it was gone. just hoping it went to a good home. With guys getting over 200bpa yields on corn now a days ,I'm starting to wonder if i was wrong about going to 30 inch rows. THen I've always had to worry about opening up the field.THese deals only come up at the worst times for lots of folks. There is people who want it and will probably pay more if you are patient.Cant save them all but wish we could.Dont suppose anyone would have a nice polebarn about 80 acres in siize they will rent dirrt cheap?? lmao A late friend of mine used to say that. He wanted to get one of every thing.

As I said, I HATE taking good running stuff to iron, but it's on my trailer and I can't unload it here per wife's orders.  So, next time I NEED my trailer, it has to go somewhere NOT here.  Look at it this way - I saved it from a scrapper at the sale.  He'd have crushed it onsite, right?  I'm giving it two weeks to go to a good home.  I'm the good guy........

On a positive note, I do have some real interest from the yesterdays tractor and craigslist ads.  Guy came saturday and turned it down at $350.  Another guy is coming tomorrow, and another guy is waiting to hear if that guy takes it.

So yes, I am giving it every opportunity I can.

Good news - I just recieved payment this morning on the picker.  At worst, it'll become a parts unit for a guy who already has a worker.  He did say he's gonna mount it and see how it works, so it may stay a worker as well....

Glad to hear.  You kept the wife happy and maybe made a dollar or so for your trouble.  I wish mounted pickers were as plentiful here but the guys who have been in the machinery business here for a long time all say very very few were ever sold here regardless of make.  One salesman hinted that once Deere came out with the 300 pull behind that was the final straw for the 237.  The 300 gave a way for those using wide rows to transition to narrow with a minimum of a header change.

=) Glad their are guys like you around.I'm on  SS and it is slow getting ahead and scraping dollars together to do any thing any more.I still want to run like i did in my teens and twenties but SS and bills and body keep dragging things to a frustrating crawl. I am taking care of both of my parents the best i can and helping them out living in town and wanting to fix up my property 80 miles away and move there when it becomes feasible.I think of neighbors tractors i let go at sales because i foolishly listened to the wrong people . Education is definitely what you get out of school! lol Thanks again to you and the buyer to saving the old girl.
