I am replacing the bearings and cones in the long gathering chain gear box. I had the short rachet shaft build-up where the upper bearing fits I also tightened the bearings in the bearing tube using the threaded locking nut. My question is what is the best way to obtain the correct .007-.017 gear backlash and correct bearing adjustment I know that is done with shims. any help is appreciated.
