i would like to purchase a cornsheller in working condition.pto drive, something that will shell 500 bu a season. i heat my home with corn & am tired of using my old hand crank sheller. I've looked at the JD model 43, it looks to be the right sheller for me, but I'm open to any suggestions.   thanks for your time.    jerry

I had a 43 at one time and they would be a super sheller for what you want it for!---another slightly larger one would be the jd #7,--(smaller version of the #6)---IH #30 (if you could find one ) is about the size of the jd #43,--also a good unit!---I have one of them, but its rusted out kinda bad and needs new tinwork cut and fit to it! thanks; sonny

thanks for your expertise, sonny. does anybody know were i can purchase a JD# 43,#7,#6 or a IH#30 PTO cornsheller? I'm an old guy that doesn't want to hand shell anymore. thanks, jerry in michigan

Jerry, If you're "color blind", a MM model D sheller would be a great alternative,they had a belt provision on the rear of the mainshaft and a PTO provision on the front of the mainshaft. There may be more of them around also. John

Not now Nick, but I'll keep my eyes open for one. I'm saving all the moving parts from 2 to use on the one I'm trying to get running, the drags you mentioned looki good, but I took the chains off and put them in buckets of oil, now I have to find them and see how many I've got.

i bought my model d over the weekend, so i need a couple of things.

i need the gear drive thats sits above the elevator that drives the drags and the drags.

no big hurry......

also looking for serial number ranges to try to determine a model year.

Nick, I have the gear drive assembly, give me the serial # and I can give you the year. I'm cutting up 2 and saving all the brgs, moving parts, and all the good sheetmetal.

Thought I would add some pics of my JD 43 sheller.
I've rebuilt the tin arround the bottom auger, replaced the bottom auger. Put new paddles on the blower wheel and replace some of the bushings.
Works pretty well for me. I did about 600 bu. last year.
