On April 6th 2010 Kevin (Oliver #4) told me he was on his way to Minnesota to pick up a MM picker and knowing I was from Cedar Rapids asked if I would like to go along and I agreed to meet him in Cedar Rapids and rode up with another friend of his that he had along with him.We didnt really run into bad weather but the farther we got the more the wind blew and the rain had also started to pick up when we got closer to our destination (Alden Mn.) When we got there the owners son (Wayne) was there and Kevin got his first in person look at his purchase. It had some dust on it, it had been stored inside and Wayne had estimated that it had been 25 years since it had picked corn. So Wayne took his Case uniloader and pulled it outside so it could be loaded on a more level surface and out of the wind near a corn crib (imagine that). So with the Case uniloader on one side and a Case 2090 with a Westendorf loader on the other side Kevin and Wayne proceeded to pick up the (golden prize) and when they had it in the air I backed the trailer under it. After that we loaded an Oliver 4 bottom plow tied everything down and took a few pictures before heading back south. The first few miles before we got to I-35 we was greeted with a terrible crosswind the made the Cummins diesel WORK. Wayne's mother and Kevins friend watched from the confines of a warm pickup. Charlie Thank You for putting the pictures on here and telling the little story ! I do also want to THANK YOU for going along and helping with the loading and chaining down the new golden nugget! It was great fun and the search keeps on going!
We pulled the trailer ahead squared the picker up with the trailer then picked straight up backed trailer under and when it was lowered only had to slide picker over a few inches not too bad really. Kevin is a PRO at loading these things and as he told me " it wasnt his first rodeo." Charlie

Tom the way I figured it we was a little over a hundred miles from you (maybe it was more) but Kevin and I had talked about it on the way up to Mn. it would have been neat if we would have had your phone number and got a hold of you to meet up some place while we was up that far. Charlie
That picker looks awfully familiar Kevin. Did you get it home in one piece and get it washed up yet, have to post some pics of it now. I'll try and stop by sometime and take a look. sure looks alot like this one:

Yes it is home all in one piece , and that Charlie is a load master now! It made the trip all 412 miles without needing readjusted once ! I have not got to clean it up yet or work on it ! But it won`t be long and it is one of those other projects that is coming in line to start on! Got acouple shows coming that got to get ready for!
