Adapting polytin to a NI picker

I crinkled the inner divider on my NI 324 on a frozen-in rock this past season.  I saw a JD 300 picker where the owner had put polytin on its 244 corn head.  Looking at my own 244 head that's on  the combine, I may be able to adapt polytin dividers to the 324. I know I need to install all the NI hardware from the old dividers to make it work.  Has anybody else thought about this or tried it?  Any input is appreciated.

I think its a great idea. i had thought about it before but nothing on mine has been damaged beyond repair.I thought about trying it if i cobbled together a picker to pick 20 " rows for the fun of it.

Somewhere in my mess of stuff there is an article about somebody who built a 4-row 20" head for a JD 300 . . . I can't remember who made the units offhand but they were salvaged off a road-wrecked combine head and put on the 244 frame.

Hey, that sounds interesting.  Last year I bought a planter with interplant units.  I planted beans in narrow rows but am considering planting my corn that way too.  I was thinking about adding a row unit to the 244 head on my 300 picker, but four rows would be even better.  If you come up with that article let me know!  TW
