New Idea gathering chain
(Preview)
I have this posted in the For Sale/Wanted forum. I'm putting it here too in case anyone may not have seen it over there. I also added some pictures of the part I am looking for. We broke a gathering chain on a New Idea no. 300 picker. The link that broke was one of the attachment links (the ones with the h...

I am not affiliated with the ad but there is a New Idea mounted corn sheller advertised on Yesterday's Tractors. Looks pretty good and the price isn't bad. It's in Iowa. Mike

More Picker Tractors
(Preview)
Girlfriends dad brought home a couple more tractors for 2 more 2MH's he's buying. One is a 51 M (Super M decals) that needs just some small stuff. Other is a 53? Super MD not running hopefully it doesn't take much. [IMG]https://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt181/RobinsonFarms/20151219_1348...

Wapsie Valley OP Seed Corn?
(Preview)
I see where several of you fellows have some planted. Have thought about it, but never done it. Was wondering about a few things. What population do you plant? What is the cost? Is there a source close to central VA (thinking of frt. costs)? Also wondering how it yields compared to conventional hybrids...

IHC #20 picker on F30
(Preview)
Here is my 1937 Farmall F30 with an IHC #20 mounted picker. The picker is pretty worn, all of the chains are rusted solid and most of the sprockets are beyond worn out. But there does not seem to be very many of this picker around anymore. There is a restored picker like this on an F30 in Harold Warp's Pionee...

Best place to find a picker?
(Preview)
It's wintertime. My mind wanders this time of the year. What can I say..... First and foremost I am an IH guy. One of the items on my must-have list is a mounted picker. I really like the 2MH, I know the 234 is the best unit (and I have an 856 that I could put a narrow front on and mount the 234) but there's so...

How tall is a 2MH?
(Preview)
Just curious, when a 2MH picker is mounted on a M/Super M/400/450, how tall is the elevator sticking out the back? Is it better to remove it from the tractor before you haul it? Was wondering how folks haul their pickers to shows and so forth. Al

Redo Wood Bros 1 row picker
(Preview)
I've been replacing the wood that the gathering chains run on my picker. Several years ago I removed the chain that drives the trash bed under the husking rolls and a chain that runs the ear corn elevator from the front of the trash bed. I glance at it once in awhile and wonder how do the chains go on. Wou...

This is what followed me home last weekend. It's a 1952 6A. It needs a few things, but it obviously has not sat outside much. IH or New Idea or ???
(Preview)
What little I know about corn pickers, I know that the mounted pickers are HEAVY. And there are lots of stories out there about tractors breaking rear axles with a picker on them. Was there a make of picker that was worse for breaking axles than others? Which brand tended to be heavier, IH, New Idea, John...

Just wanted to say hello, I discovered this forum the other day. I live in eastern NC. There are not a huge number of pickers around, but a few. When I was growing up my great-uncle had a JD 100 (the one without the husking bed) that he ran with an Allis D-15 and I was always fascinated by it. I collect IH, my fa...

Ford 6000 and 602 picker in action
(Preview)
Picked 2 wagon loads of corn with the 6000 this week and got some video. Picker worked great. The 6000 and the 12 roll husking bed is sure a big step up from the 961 and 8 roll bed. The field only averaged about 80 bushels but had spots that were probably 125+ and some low spots that was almost 0. Way too wet thi...
