I had some negatives converted into pictures, and this is a picture that I believe was taken sometime between 1945 and 1952. The mystery, to me, is that, to my knowlege, my Dad and his brothers never had an IH tractor or picker. I have an operators manual for a JD 226 that my Dad had written on the cover &q...

Earlier this winter I mentioned in some of my posts that I was planning to build a cart for my New Idea 319 Mounted Picker so that I could easily move it around the yard. Well, I finished it today and here are some pictures. Now I can store it in whatever shed I want to without being concerned that once I take i...

Am new to this forum as I just joined a few minutes ago. I have a small grain farm in West Central Ohio raising corn, beans, and wheat. At the present time I do not have a corn picker with the exception of 1/16 scale models, but I do hope to get a one row pull type in the future. Growing up as a boy when my dad used t...

I have a Harvey Red Head sheller that was made in Racine, Wisconsin. It's a small machine, belt-driven, but works well to keep the old F-20 Farmall excerised. My buddy found me a Sheller don't know what no. it is but this sheller has never been used, in the barn, so what is it worth? My thought was $500 for the sheller to high or to cheap? This guy also has the 2MH picker that the sheller was bought with, used very little and in the barn. My buddy also found...

Here are some pics from this fall. The first five are of me playing with the "red" pickers. The next three are of my son doing some serious work with the John Deere. This year we picked a little over ten thousand bushels of ear corn. We harvested the majority of the corn with the combine.

Finally got some picks back from this fall's picking. I didn't think I had gotten any pictures, but a friend snuck over and took some pictures while I was combining soybeans in the afternoon. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!!

Anyone here have any thoughts on growing early season corn for picking? I would like to have a demonstration day, but of course fall harvest gets in the way, and with 4200 acres, we can't take days off, nor can our neighbors. So, if I plant short season corn EARLY, how early will it be? We typically pla...

I was just curious if anyone has picked any ear corn yet? I would like to pick a little here in SW Minnesota but from what I've been hearing from the ones who have started combining corn is that it is already 14-18% moisture - too dry for picking!
