Nice! I just looked at my 290 today, I need to find a new place for it before the shed falls in....
BTW, does anyone even sell graded hybrid seed corn anymore? I have both the 290 and a 999 and have several different sets of plates for both planters, I even have popcorn plates for the 999.
I would like to plant a couple acres sometime to use my "1949" equipment on, they planted the corn here in 20" rows this year.
Yes you can still get graded seed corn. It's not graded as precisely as it used to be but it still works. Got some from Growmark FS and some from Shumway's this year. I also got some graded open-pollinated Dublin yellow corn from Vaughn Emo to custom-plant for a guy who is wanting to feed his pigs non-GMO feed. I'm curious about this variety of OP because it has reportedly been able to hit 175 bu. per acre . . . pretty dern good for an OP. However, all of my corn is currently still in the bag due to rain . . . .
We have half of our corn planted. Might plant some beans now that it is getting late. A lot of planting was going on this last weekend until it rained again.
