Shelling out corn crib

Shelling out the corn crib in June of 2012 with my 1950 M Diesel on the sheller, 1942 H on the cob wagon, and my dad's 1963 560 diesel pulling loads.  The sheller is a MM E.  This was the second time we have filled the crib.  I believe the corn crib was put up in 1914.

That's pretty neat to see all that equipment still in use.

What pretty pictures of the drags all full of ear corn and the picture of the elevator.

To pick this corn I had my 319 picker with 322 husking bed mounted on the MD.  I have the picker listed in the classifieds here along with two pictures taken last fall when I just picked off three loads, one for my Sandwich sheller this summer.  The other two for feed, but I haven't bought any calves yet.  I'm selling the picker because we decided to move to 30 inch rows, and the picker is the only wide row equipment we have left.  I'm going to try and find a decent 2 row narrow pull type by fall.

If you cannot find a narrow pull-type, a wide-row will work. We replaced the lift cylinder in our 324 with a fixed bar that kept the snoots a skosh higher off the ground. The corn stalks slide right around the center snoot. It just takes a bit more attention to keep a wide-row picker lined up on the narrow rows, especially on a hillside farm. Good luck with either plan.
