I guess it must be my lucky day. I got a call about another mounted picker and went to look at it, turns out I had seen it before. It's a JD 227 that has been shedded on a concrete floor, complete with a 50 sheller. It had been mounted on a late-styled "A" that a friend bought a few years back, the mounts & 540 drive are still with it! Alls missing is the screens & super snoot for the tractor. It is a "low nose" but has the later snapping rolls, my guess is it is either a late 50's or early 1960's model.
So.... on the plus side, since it was already on an "A" it should be pretty easy to mount on a 2-cylinder and I won't hafta dig it out of the dirt! On the minus side, it doesn't have the grease banks like the 237.... Did I mention today is my birthday?
Memory was full on my phone. I'm not real tech savvy when it comes to posting pics, but I'll try to get some in the near future. Now I just need to find a tractor that will handle both.... My memory isn't as good as it should be, the picker may or may not have been on the "A" but pretty sure they didn't have the sheller on it then. Definitely has the lift arms for a 60/A. I suppose both picker & sheller would be a load for a 60 in today's corn???

i dont kno much about mounted pickers but i pull our 2 row pull type in good corn with my jd 60 it does alright if your using smaller wagons hope that helps
Thanks! We used to take the extensions off the old barge wagons when we used the picker/sheller on the 3020. Talking to my uncle today he said they used to put both on my Dad's 60 before that.
