New Here

Just wanted to say hello, I discovered this forum the other day. I live in eastern NC. There are not a huge number of pickers around, but a few. When I was growing up my great-uncle had a JD 100 (the one without the husking bed) that he ran with an Allis D-15 and I was always fascinated by it. I collect IH, my favorites are the culti-vision tractors especially the Cub and Super A, but I also own an 856, 52R pull-type combine, and a few other IH goodies. I recently bought a JD 43 corn sheller, and I hope to have a tractor and picker to go with it one of these days when I get some other projects behind me. I've always been fond of the M/Super M with a 2MH, but will just have to see what comes along "when the time's right!"

Thanks and I look forward to learning a lot.
Al

Welcome!! Lots of guys full of info here!!

I collect red too. Have an 856 and Super M and assorted others. Have a F20 with 2ME picker and just bought another 2ME to put on another F20 but going to mount it on the Super M to get it home. My grandpa picked with his Super M in the day, 2ME then 2MH, then had a 234.Girlfriends dad has a 2MH on a MD and 3 234's with one on 560.

Dan I saw your new 2ME, looks nice!  I tend to gravitate towards the letter series and later, I guess that's why the M/Super M/2MH outfit appeals to me so much.  I could find a tricycle front for the 856 and then put a 234 on it, but whatever route I take I intend to keep the picker on the tractor and I really don't want to tie the 8 up.  A 560/picker combination would be nice too.  I guess an IH hydro tractor under a 234 would be the ultimate outfit.  Another possibility would be a Farmall Super C with an IH (I forget the model) mounted one-row picker.

I know I'll probably have to travel to find the picker I want; just not a whole lot of them around these parts.  Several guys have late-model New Idea pull-types that they use to pick deer corn.  I might luck up and find one in the western part of NC--more beef and dairy and thus a need for feeding ear corn.  My 52R and my sheller both came from Iowa so it's been done before!  I've found if I'm not actually looking for something, it'll show up.  Usually when my play money is gone!

Hello Super "A", welcome to this great forum. The one row picker you are thinking of is the 2C-10 for the Farmall "C".

Yep, that's the one.  Farmall Land USA in Avoca, IA had one outside on display when I visited back in '09.  Neat looking piece!
