John Deere 71 corn sheller

there is a John Deere 71 corn sheller on a consignment sale coming up Monday. I was wondering if anybody knows what years they were produced. Also how much horsepower do they take?

Cool, I've always wanted one.

I think they were made from the mid 50's up until they quit making shellers. My guess is an "A" or 60 would handle it without a problem, but I never was around one back in my corn shelling days. I always thought they were kinda similar to the smaller M-M shellers.

Good luck, I hope you get it!

According to the brochure dated 6-55, 15-30 horsepower tractor required to operate the model 71 sheller. So yes an "A" or a 60 should handle it.
