New Idea 319 Hydraulics

I have a New Idea 319 gathering unit.  It came equipped with New Idea hydraulic cylinders.  The cylinders have a vent plug in one end for one way operation.  Pressure to raise the unit.  Does anyone know if you can remove the vent and add a second hydraulic hose for two way hydraulic operation?

Should not be a problem. But why?

The tractor we will mount it on has two way hydraulics. I did not know if the new idea cylinders had seals to be able to take pressure in both directions.

What tractor are you mounting it on? I had mine mounted on a JD 2520 and I just plugged the hose in one outlet of a double-acting box. Worked just fine. The picker is heavy enough that there should be no reason to "power" it down.
