I think all of those older pickers shelled some till the manufacturers figured out that they could angle the snapping rolls and eliminate most of the shelling. Even more with the combine type snapping rolls and plates. But the combine ones cant pick up down corn as good. The newest ones seem to have over come that but Ive never been in those fields to tell for myself for sure. Ive wondered if maybe a smart welder could rig up something on an older picker. With all the neat add ons they made for stuff back in the day, I'm surprised there isnt something out there. In the back of those old farm magazines and the sears and montgomery ward farm catalogs was some ingenius stuff. Like false endgates, etc

Nice job! I had never seen a painted New Idea before. Looks great!
It appears to have done a fairly clean job of picking. We used a no. 7 this year also for the first time. See my separate thread here. We only did a small wagon load, but it also did a fairly clean job.
The Ford pickup looks great too! Nice touch!

I helped someone clean out an old barn once  that had a 3/4 ton ford like that witha hoist under the bed! Now that was living!! Nice to see old vintage trucks  still working. All of your equipment looks sharp!
