329 super sheller

Hey guys I got a 329 super sheller and I was bagging corn today an I noticed a bunch cracked corn in wagon. I noticed it in my other wagons too. I don't really know what is causing it. I know that on the auger tube that unloads in wagon there is a few dents but I not sure if that's what would be causing it or if its something inside. I not sure if anyone has or had the same problems.

It could be just about anything. The dents in your auger could be causing some of it, but probably not that much. If you think they could be, you should be able to borrow a tool from a welding shop or implement dealer that pushes the dents out fom the inside. I'd check out the insides of the sheller for sharp edges, including the auger to the wagon. If that is wearing out (sharp or jagged edges) it should be replaced. Also, if the corn you are shelling is dry, open up the gate at the end of the sheller cage. Keeping corn kernels in the cage any longer than necessary will also cause damage. Is the upper end of the auger free from dents/obstructions, etc? The thrower at the top of the auger can cause kernel damage if it is throwing corn against a sharp edge before it gets to the wagon.

I'm going to go over the sheller soon. I really appreciate the advice. I know the corn was running from 17 to 19 percent moisture. I got to open up the sheller cage and look. I'm pretty sure I had the gate all the way open if not maybe 2 turns in. The first trailer load of corn I sold was little dirty with stalk so I put the shuck teeth in the cage to break the stalk. It worked and the second load was cleaner then but I was still getting cracked corn. I going to open the cage up maybe there something rubbing inside. I will pull the auger out of the tube and see what it looks like. I also was having trouble with the corn shelling on the head when it hit the snapping rolls I was running them in the middle position and all the way closed but didn't seem to matter. Is that normal sometimes for the corn to get shelled when it hits the snapping rolls?

At the moisture you were picking at, corn will shell on the snapping rolls. That is the downfall of snapping rolls vs. a header with stripper plates - the stripper plate head will shell less. Picking at or above 20% moisture will reduce this by quite a bit, but then you have more drying cost.
