John Deere 120 corn snapper

I'm needing an old picker to pick several acres of field corn. The only picker local to me is a John Deere 120 snapper. I know they are semi mount but any thoughts on them? I have also found an old ford 601 picker but it's a few hours away and I know you can't get many parts for them anymore. All the New Idea pickers and snappers around here are way over priced. A single row New Idea in rough shape is bringing $3000.00 here but I can drive a few hours away and buy the same picker for $700.00, but I don't think I can get a single row picker on a 7ft wide trailer. Help me decide what would be best for me. I know Deere keeps parts available if you can afford them and most parts are still available for the New Ideas but would they be that much better than the 120? Thanks for all your help.

I would be very surprised if you can find any parts for your snapper at John Deere.

I had a JD 120 several years ago. It was a great picker. I don't have any complaints with it at all, it would pick with the best of them.

It's probably been close to 20 years ago but then you could still get several parts from JD for it.

I pulled it with a AC WD45. Best I remember it just sit on a standard 2" ball on the drawbar and also attached with a single rod to the side of the tractor. It would fit just about any brand tractor but I'm unsure if it would work with a wide front end.
